I haven’t been so confused by a book in a long time, and I’ve also not DNF’d a book in almost four months, but this is one special crow.

I tried. I tried reading it at home, work and in random spots outside, as though the location could perhaps help me make sense of this crow and story better. But it didn’t.

I’m all in for stories narrated by animals, because let’s face it, we all wonder sometimes what they think, so it’s pretty intriguing to see what kind of voice an author decides to give great and small creatures.

Contrary to what I first thought, this crow isn’t the only one whose thoughts we are privy to. There are various other random animals who share their vision on what’s happening in this apocalyptic world, sometimes directly talking to us, the reader.

It’s kind of… silly. The nonsense, instead of being endearing or funny, is just… weird. It’s a new type of ridiculous I hadn’t encountered before, or not in a long time, and it’s only ‘‘sometimes’’ entertaining. The only other reason I’m giving it 2 stars instead of 1 is that it’s so ridiculous it makes everything else that is happening in our real world seem manageable.
