REVIEW:

Jacky is an amazingly funny and hot celebrity, and she’s looking back to her childhood period to show us how she overcame many obstacles and precarious situations to become the insanely talented actor she is today.

What I liked about this book the most was the atmosphere. It really feels like today Jacky is telling a long story about her misadventures when she was a kid. She has six other siblings so things at home and school are always a little over-the-top.

She herself is a performer 24/7. Her mind is crawling with jokes and smart comebacks and the problem (or funny thing) is she can’t hold them back. Normally, this drives her right into trouble and lots of detentions. But this time, she gets the chance of a (childhood) lifetime to use all of that energy and goofiness, and turn it into something glorious.

The writing is wonderfully appropriate for its middle grade audience, as well as very entertaining. The plot is carefully-planned, and while it has its predictable moments, overall it does shine. The illustrations are so much fun and makes clear why a graphic novel adaptation of this came out. What can I say, this one’s a winner.
