This is a fast-paced survival story starring two teenagers (Vale & Ash) who get lost in the mountains during a school trip with very limited survival skills and necessities. If they don’t make it back to their initial group as fast as possible they might be lost forever. *cue dramatic music*

I was pretty engrossed. I read it in a single day because it’s not extremely long, fast as mentioned, and besides I read it the day before one of my finals in Anthropology (which now that I think about it I probably should not have done) so I was bound to consume it quickly.

You know what I love most about this story? It has a couple of weaknesses but one of the things that made me enjoy it was the lack of romance that inevitable happens in most YA books or stories in general with a boy and a girl lost together. But Vale here is aro-ace (aromantic and asexual) and she and Ash are really just good buddies.

So the focus is really on these teens staying alive and the teacher who orchestrated this trip trying to find her missing students. The alternative POVs and lack of unnecessary details make this story easy to read and fast-paced. It does feel juvenile overall and I found unrealistic how easily Vale & Ash laughed together in the midst of almost dying basically or dangerous situations in general, even though they’re being best friends.

Not bad, recommended!
