BLURB:

Big and Little are the very best of friends. They do everything together! That is until one day, when Big suddenly hides away inside his shell… Little tries every method to get Big to come out and play again—he bakes him his favorite cake, he even asks all of his friends for help—but nothing seems to be working! What could possibly be wrong?

This is adorable.

Little and Big do everything together. They’re best friends and form their own little family. But one day Big doesn’t feel like doing anything anymore and hides from everyone, including his best friend.

Little has to find a way to cheer Big up.

It’s very charming and beautifully-illustrated. My only problem with it—and unfortunately it’s a huge one—is that Big’s sudden change in mood is never explained. I absolutely have no idea myself why Big became so depressed.

It actually reminds me of another picture book I read today as well: IVY AND THE LONELY RAINCLOUD. Ivy is grumpy but we, the readers, have no idea why.

Little did well to find a way for Big to come out of his hiding place, but he also should have asked Big what was wrong. It’s important to talk things through, though of course I also think that what Little did was lovely and not a bad thing at all.

Could have been better, but pleasant nonetheless.
