The series, focusing on the way our young animal friends spend a day, continues with an adventurous spider monkey exploring the bustling rainforest of South America with his mother by his side.

This was my first book in the ‘‘One Day on our Blue Planet…’’ series, therefore also my introduction to it.

It was lovely. Honestly, I don’t think there’s ever going to be a book about animals that I’m going to hate, because animals are one of my favourite things in the world (aside from books why of course).

In this third, I believe, instalment of the series, a monkey loses sight of its mother as they wander through the South American rainforest. It’s very lovely, seeing that it shows the reader all of the different mammals, fish and birds and even some insects that live in the rainforest.

To be honest, I did not know much of anything about rainforests before. Now I’m aware of the different species that have made the rainforest their home, but to be honest, since this is a book about the environment, I would have liked to know more about the setting itself, not simply be presented its inhabitants.

Still, I could easily imagine a child be in awe of all the animals. It’s actually a good tool to use to teach your children about the various existing species. Don’t worry, names are provided at the beginning and end so the parents don’t have to research the animals themselves. Cute!
