BLURB:

A thrilling debut novel where fantasy and science fiction meet, dragons aren’t as innocent as they look, and nothing is quite what it seems.

Anne has spent most of her thirteen years dreaming of the day she and her best friend Penelope will finally leave Saint Lupin’s Institute for Perpetually Wicked and Hideously Unattractive Children. When the big day arrives, a series of very curious happenings lead to Anne being charged with an epic quest. Anne, Penelope, and new questing partner Hiro have only days to travel to strange new locales, solve myriad riddles, and triumph over monstrous foes–or face the horrible consequences.

Packed with action, humor, and endless heart, this debut novel marks the first volume in an irresistible and original fantasy series.

If this book doesn’t get the attention it deserves, I’m going to be so MAD at the universe.

I can’t believe this is Mister White’s first novel. It was written in such a UNIQUE yet professional and praise-worthy way. It’s true: it doesn’t take itself too seriously, so do imagine countless humorous situations/characters/mishaps.

It’s a BUCKET OF FUN just for you. You do need to somewhat enjoy middle grade novels in general or have a good sense of humour to have a great time with this, but honestly, I really don’t see how you couldn’t fall for little lost girl Anne and her sidekick/best friend Penelope.

Since it focuses on a prophetic quest, there is adventure, action, DANGER and plenty of surprises. Plus it honestly isn’t predictable, like the majority of middle grade novels. But maybe don’t speculate too much, either. I was quite taken aback by the ending, but in a good way. It definitely didn’t go the way I thought it would, but now I’m all the more interested in knowing what will happen NEXT.

I especially enjoyed the blend of fantasy and STEAMPUNK elements. Wade Albert White created some original and memorable creatures here. Ones I sure want to meet again in the sequel (which will hopefully not take too long to hit the shelves).
