Minuscule, Adorable Reviews for Good and Awful and Amazing Books (LOL, What a Title)

Hello, friends, readers, perusers! As you know, bloggers have lives, too. Sometimes, they don’t feel like writing a review for a book, so they just tweet something about it instead. I usually try my best to write complete reviews, but sometimes I just don’t feel like it. BUT, I still want to share some of the books I’ve read this year, even though I have not reviewed them properly. Here they are, them (mostly) tweet-sized reviews!

Ivory and Bone by Julie EshbaughIvory and Bone by Julie Eshbaug

The only thing remotely good about this book is the cover. Am I the only one who felt deeply uncomfortable being spoken to by the main character as if I were his lover?

I think this book was uprooted from Heaven’s grounds and magically brought to Earth.

Pfffiou… I feel like I’ve been holding my breath for 325 pages and only now finally exhaled.

‘‘Despina,’’ she whispered. ‘‘My name is Despina.’’

Jalal is such a flirt. He and Despina have the funniest and wittiest interactions. They are good together. It’s unfortunate we didn’t get to see anything more than a single vigorous kiss from the keen lovers. I want more of them.

Lovely clear writing and good characterization but 1) Evanjalin annoys me, 2) it’s not that original and 3) I’m so darn bored. Which leads me to… dnf.

Are there some you agree or disagree with? Speak or forever hold your tongue! 😀

  1. Uprooted has been popping up everywhere for me lately – Its definitely on my TBR 🙂 I’ve also been curious about reading Finnikin of the Rock – I may give it a try someday. Great post idea… I may try this some time in the future – maybe for books/movies I don’t really have much to say about but wouldn’t mind rating.

  2. Personally, I really didn’t enjoy Uprooted – but I’m certainly the minority in this. It’s like I read a different book than everyone else! Nothing about it really captured me and the characters felt so flat. Props to their cover designers though – I’ve seen three different editions and all are lovely.

  3. Haha I love these little captions! UPROOTED WAS SO DAMN GOOD. Every time I hear about that book my heart wants to leap with joy because it loves it so much.

So sorry you didn’t like Finnikin of the Rock or Ivory and Bone! 😥 I enjoyed those two, but I can see where you’re coming from. Ivory and Bone seemed like a hit-or-miss book (hehe sounds familiar).

I’m really glad you liked the last book of Captive Prince though! I thought it was the author’s strongest work in the trilogy by far. 😀

  5. So so many people love Captive Prince. I might check it out. I mean it has to be good if that many people like it. I am so frightened to start Ivory and Bone I haven’t seen a single good review for it. Maybe I’ll just pass, even though I got it for review. Stormbreaker sounds intriguing, thanks for posting these reviews! 🙂
