BLURB:

It’s been six weeks since the angels of the apocalypse destroyed the world as we know it. Only pockets of humanity remain.

Savage street gangs rule the day while fear and superstition rule the night.

When angels fly away with a helpless girl, her seventeen-year-old sister Penryn will do anything to get her back…

REVIEW:

HELL TO THE YES.

When I was a little younger, I used to be obsessed with angels. I used to wish to become one, the day of my death, (how morbid) and often absurdly made the said wish when blowing candles, on my birthdays.

Therefore, everyone in my vicinity would see carry an angel story around. I was smitten with them. This peculiar obsession lasted for years and so my pile of angel books read became real impressive. Kissed by an Angel, Hush, Hush, Unearthly, Fallen, Daughter of Smoke & Bone, Once Dead, Twice Shy are some of the books/series that I would dive into.

But hear me out: of all the stories featuring winged humans that I have had the pleasure to read, none was so… Obscure. Nasty. Raw. Gut-wrenching. Relentlessly dark.

And more.

I can’t say that it renewed my love toward angels… because obviously this book wouldn’t be what it is if those creatures were the ‘‘good guys,’’ but I sure as hell feel like reading further. I have no clue on how this will end. The world is already dead, what could happen more? I’m curious, so curious. I feel like snooping around Goodreads reviews and catch bits and hints on what will happen next with Penryn and Raffe, but will try to control myself.

As for Penryn and Raffe… Raffe is not my type. I don’t sense a connection to him, even if I do enjoy his quick-witted lines full of smugness. Thing is, I’ve long now accepted the fact that not every book boyfriend can become our book boyfriend and Penryn and himself make such a perfect team, that I’m not going to try and steal him away from her. How’s that for unselfishness? *wink* *wink*

If you haven’t implicitly gotten the message already, READ THIS BOOK.

  1. I’ve had this book on my TBR shelf forever but never read it. Seeing how much you loved it, I might have to pick this one up.
Also, have you read Angel Burn by LA Weatherly? It had evil angels too and is one of my favorite paranormal-esque books that I’ve read.

  2. It’s always so difficult to find some good angels books but it’s great that this one was! I heard a lot about the series but I confess that I haven’t read any. I’ll have to try one day too.

  3. I purchased this book a few days ago! I’ll admit I haven’t read any book with angels yet but this one sounds deliciously darker than most and I’m glad to hear it is. Wonderful review, Lola! You’re so kind as too save Raffe for Penryn 😉

  4. I feel like everyone and their dog has already read their book. I even have a copy sitting on my Kindle, yet I haven’t gotten around to it! I think I’m just going to wait for all the books to be released (there’s a third coming out, yes?) and then binge read the series.

Although, I TOTALLY relate to that feeling of wanting to get sneak peeks of the next book! 😀 Sometimes you’re just so excited about a book that you NEED to know what happens next. Even though I absolutely abhor spoilers, I get the urge sometimes as well. 😉 Looks like you need to pick up the next book soon, haha.

Lovely, lovely review, Mel! I will get around to this book. soon. <33

  6. I NEED TO READ THIS BOOK. I’ve owned it for years so I have NO excuse. *hangs head in shame* I know a lot of people seem to not like angels books but I’ve always made out pretty well with the ones I’ve read. None of them have ever had as many rave reviews as this one though^^ Hopefully your words will be the kick in the butt I need to FINALLY read it!! I’m happy you loved this one, GREAT review ♥

  7. Yaayyy yaayy I’m sooo glad you loved this one! I was actually looking to see if you have reviewed this book yet a few weeks back, the first book is the best on of the series. The second book is good too but not as well, the series goes sorta downhill but it was still good overall though. Fantastic review Lola ❤

  8. I have heard so many good things about this series, at this point I’m wishing I could read 10 books at once just to start everything I want to lol it sounds a bit great, I love it when angels are portrayed as…well…not being all that angelic.

I hope you enjoy the rest of the series 🙂

  9. I love your review! Can I just say that I have seen this book around for a few years and have been somewhat interested, but have never officially added it to my TBR pile? I am adding it now! I will let you know when I read it. Thanks for such a wonderful review.

  10. I was one of those people that always said I would NEVER read about angels. Literally last week, I stumbled across so many reviews for this trilogy, and all of them were HIGH PRAISES. I ran over to amazon, and seen how cheap they were, so yes girl, Tika will be starting Angel Fall VERY soon! I love the villains more than the good guys in books, so I’m pretty sure this would be a read I’ll enjoy. Great review as always Lola boo!
