Favorite Reads of 2014 ❤

description I wanted to participate to the Top Ten Tuesday meme with the Top Ten Books I’ve Read This Year subject, but I’m the worst at remembering them, and it’s Sunday --> cannot anymore. But, still, I want to make a list as well so…let me present you my favorite reads of 2014! ^_^ I have read 308 books this year, so it will be hard to choose, but here they are:

First position: Captive Prince: Volume Two by C.S. Pacat

I only Started reading M/M romances this year, and this series was my first ever. I hope I’m not actually biased by saying that it is my favorite so far in the genre, but it is my favorite so far in the genre. I’m putting the second book first because, honestly, it was far far better from book one, even though the first was INCREDIBLE. This, so, is beyond words.

Second potition (unsurprisingly): Captive Prince: Volume One by C.S. Pacat

A prince with his own demons, Laurent, and another one, Damen, sold as a sex slave for him? How can that not be captivating? But what if the Damen was the one who killed Laurent’s family? OMG OMG OMG, I just love this series. You have to read it. ^_^

Third position: Cracked by Eliza Crewe

I’ve already made so much publicity for this book, so you probably know about it (hehehe) but, well, it very much deserves it all. ”MEET MEDA. SHE EATS PEOPLE.” This book was amazing and so entertaining. My favorite YA book this year for sure!

Forth position: Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Sáenz

I also only dicovered LGBT books this year. I mean, I guessed they existed somewhere, but Goodreads was really the one who introduced me to them and, since, then, I corrupted some other people as well to this fantastic genre. (I feel so proud about it.) Both main characters couldn’t be more different yet seeing them together is wonderful. And of course, witnessing their path to discovering the secrets of the universe too…

Fifth position: I’d Tell You I Love You, But Then I’d Have to Kill You by Ally Carter

Damn, I’ve always loved Totally Spies as a cartoon show and spies alone, so I couldn’t hate this one. In the very contrary, I LOVED IT. It amazed me and held my interest from the very first sentence. I especially loved the characters, gadgets and settings a lot.

Sixth position: First Grave on the Right by Darynda Jones

I’ve always liked starting new Urban Fantasy series, but no other Adult UF series has made me read past midnight, on a school day!! This is filled with fun new characters and a romance that is I-R-R-E-S-I-S-T-I-B-L-E. Worth it!

Seventh position: Manga Classics: Pride & Prejudice by Stacy King, Po Tse and Jane Austen

Manga is a genre I find lovely to read when in the mood. And when the manga in question has good art or at least a great plot. This though is the manga adaptation of my all-time favorite classic, Pride & Prejudice, so of course I loved it! Even though it wasn’t 100% accurate to the novel.

Eighth position: The Fault in Our Stars by John Green

I finally read this one this year and, wow, it was astonishing! I loved it, but didn’t actually cry haha.

Nineth position: Insurgent (Divergent #2) by Veronica Roth

While I did prefer book one and was disappointed with book three, I found this one to be satisfying enough. Different, but a good and interesting different. Plus, it was even more exciting with all the deaths. (Weird, right? But I do like when characters are dying in books. Except, you know, for you-know-what.)

Tenth position: The Crimson Spell, Volume 1 (Crimson Spell #1) by Ayano Yamane

I honestly choose my Yaoi manga reads very wisely, because I only want to read the best of the best. ^_^ Which is weird, because I love yaoi…but only when done well and with a LOT of angst haha. Like in my everyday reads, I guess? Anyway, this was one of my firsts and it is wonderful! I plan on buying the whole series (consisting of 5 volumes) for my birthday.

Have you read any of these? Do you agrre (or disagree) with some books on my list?

  1. Great picks! And pride and prejudice in manga form sounds so cool! I have a teensy request, I never really ask for comments since i get its pretty annoying but I’d love if you could read my most recent post and give me some feedback on what you think of the new changes to the blog I’m introducing, I’m really excited about them but a little apprehensive since its pretty big! Thanks so much xx ♥

  2. Wow, 308 books? You are impressive! I read Ari and Dante this year as well and I put it on my favorites list too. It is such an incredible book! Same goes for TFIOS. And of course I enjoyed Insurgent too. I need to read more manga/graphic novels though.

    Great list!

  3. 308 BOOKS?!?!?! I WANT YOUR READING SKILLS GIRL! That way I could kill my TBR rather quickly hahahahaha
I need to read Aristotle and Dante ASAP. I’ve been trying to pick it up since the beginning of 2014 but it has never happened so 2015 is the year for that! TFIOS is a magnificent book, isn’t it?

  7. You read Manga too. Have you read Hirunaka No Ryuusei and Last Game?

I haven’t read M/M romances yet. I have one series already but I’m still hesitant to read it. For a first time, I’m afraid to choose which book to start. Same with Yaoi manga.

  11. 308 books is a lot! I have only managed 80 last year, which I hope to top up to 100 again xD Also, after seeing certain reviews on goodreads I have added Captive Prince to my TBR. Aristole and Dante is one I own but have yet to read, and I’d Tell You I Love You but then I’d Have to Kill You was something I bought for Christmas! I wasn’t too big a fan of the fault in our stars though :/ I did see the movie recently, which I liked a lot more.

  12. I missed Top Ten Tuesday for months before I managed. I’m glad you’re joining the fun! 308 OMG! I think that’s the most I’ve heard of anyone reading this year. I bought Cracked! 😀 haha I used to watch Totally Spies too. First Grave on the Right is on my wishlist! I thought Divergent was great, but Insurgent was just good. I’m not reading Allegiant.
