Waiting on Wednesday (#2)

New+WoWWaiting On Wednesday is a weekly post created by Breaking the Spine , that features our most anticipated book to be released.

This week, my WoW pick is Crown of Ice! (Click on the cover to know more.)

Publication Date: September 9th, 2014

BLURB:
Thyra Winther’s seventeen, the Snow Queen, and immortal, but if she can’t reassemble a shattered enchanted mirror by her eighteenth birthday she’s doomed to spend eternity as a wraith. Armed with magic granted by a ruthless wizard, Thyra schemes to survive with her mind and body intact. Unencumbered by kindness, she kidnaps local boy Kai Thorsen, whose mathematical skills rival her own. Two logical minds, Thyra calculates, are better than one. With time rapidly melting away she needs all the help she can steal. A cruel lie ensnares Kai in her plan, but three missing mirror shards and Kai’s childhood friend, Gerda, present more formidable obstacles. Thyra’s willing to do anything – venture into uncharted lands, outwit sorcerers, or battle enchanted beasts — to reconstruct the mirror, yet her most dangerous adversary lies within her breast. Touched by the warmth of a wolf pup’s devotion and the fire of a young man’s desire, the thawing of Thyra’s frozen heart could be her ultimate undoing. CROWN OF ICE is a YA Fantasy that reinvents Hans Christian Andersen’s “The Snow Queen” from the perspective of a young woman who discovers that the greatest threat to her survival may be her own humanity.

I know so many people put this book in their Waiting on Wednesday posts and I couldn’t be an exception. I mean, a Snow Queen? Oh, I’m so excited to read it!

So, what are you waiting on? ^_^

  1. I do love the Snow Queen by HCA and this is the first I’ve read about this new re-telling! And it looks like it’s going to be from the POV of the Snow Queen which should be very interesting. Thanks for sharing Lola! Will put this on my TBR now 🙂

  2. I’m eagerly anticipating this one as well! It sounds like it could be an amazing book if executed well. I’ve always had a thing for fairy-tale retellings, haha. In fact, I’m reading one right now (Dorothy Must Die)

  4. Oh my goodness, finally, an original fairytale retelling. By that, I mean, The Snow Queen isn’t a story that is retold in very many books. That I know of at least. This sounds fantastic! I’m really feeling the fantasy fairytale retellings lately. Another one to add to my Goodreads to read list. 🙂 Great pick.
